Slow Down!

A massive step for me recently was to hear God tell me to slow down and then to actually start doing it. I’m a fast paced kinda guy. I get an idea and I want it implemented yesterday and the results showing today already! I normally hate slowing down.

But now that I’ve done it I’m actually starting to enjoy it. When the 50km/hr zones were introduced in most residential areas here in Newcastle I was adamant that I wasn’t going to abide by them (Romans 13 then hit that on the head!). 50 was too slow. There was no way I could do it. Very soon, Beck challenged my perspective on it. “Think of it as a nice relaxing, casual drive instead” she said. Taking on that view changed the whole thing! Now 50 zones have a pleasant almost holiday feel to them!

Our life can change for the better just by slowing down. By learning how to be faithful in the small things we’ll inevitably rise into bigger and better things… in every area. In your walk with God, don’t think you need to read 3 chapters a day to learn something. Just slow down, take it easy and let God speak to you. Even a few verses a day can change your life. The point is to be growing and establishing your foundation, your planting in God much much deeper.

Sounds good to me man. I can relate to wanting the results now, and I too have been practicing patience…great post.

    Pretty sound advice :)

I can certainly attest to taking the time out for myself. Slowing down allows you the opportunity to enjoy so much more of every day.

Taking the time to enjoy a gorgeous sunset, spending time in the garden, a flower blooming – take a moment and whisper a short thank you to the creator.

When there is near by trouble or disharmony take a moment out, to whisper a prayer under your breath; a wish of divine harmony to be with them.

May you all walk in Divine Love and Light.

Yep, so I’m a bit slow…..just read your blog including this article from last December. Yeah 50, 40,20 and 10km zones are all in the way you look at it…that’s very true.

I’ve found God has his own ways of making me slow down so I do “smell the roses.” Nothing like enforced time flat on my back for God to actually get my attention. No….I don’t need your help…I’m actually very able to do things without it – remember I did create the world and all within it!! I actually want you and YOUR attention, not your pre-occupation with all you’re doing for me and you and everything else that keeps you so busy!!

Sometimes it’s as if God has to hit me over the head with a lump of four by two – I have a tendency to “run.” These days I can’t and I AM slow….sometimes I’m quite over that….my human nature is to “run” …and just sometimes I remember the wise words of a friend -God’s rest is not always the same as our rest!! Another angle – it is possible to be flat on your back through sickness or whatever and still not rest in God. Whatever stage he’s putting us on, whatever act it is that we’re in, we need to still enough to hear his prompts and direction then our response naturally flows from that. Even the speeed bumps and 10k zones are there for a reason.
